Outreach Activities

Public Hearing Scheduled for May 7, 2019

Lake County will host the public hearing regarding transportation improvements to Round Lake Road on May 7, 2019. The public hearing will be held at the Lake County Administration Building in the Board Chambers (2nd floor), located at 315 W. Main Street, Tavares, Florida 32778. Please note that the County Commission meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. (instead of 9:00 a.m. as originally expected). The public hearing will be held after 10:00 a.m. as determined by the meeting agenda since the public hearing is being held as an agenda item as part of the County Commission meeting. A copy of the May 7th Board meeting agenda is available at www.lakecountyfl.gov. The Round Lake Road PD&E Study recommendations will be the focus of the public hearing. The hearing is being conducted to provide interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the social, economic, and environmental impacts of the proposed Round Lake Road improvements.

Oral statements can be made during the designated time during the public hearing. If you are unable to attend the public hearing, you may submit written comments to George Gadiel, PE, Study Project Manager, by either email (ggadiel@lakecountyfl.gov) or by mail (350 N. Sinclair Avenue, Tavares, FL 32778). All written statements emailed or postmarked by May 17, 2019 will become a part of the public hearing record.

Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, or family status. Persons who require language translation or interpretive services, which are provided at no cost, or those requiring special accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) may request assistance by contacting Fred Martin, Lake County Title VI/Nondiscrimination and ADA Coordinator, at 352.343.9676 or fmartin@lakecountyfl.gov at least seven (7) days prior to the meeting.

  • Lake County Public Works, 350 N. Sinclair Avenue, Tavares, FL 32778
    8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

Recommended Alternative Public Meeting Held on March 7, 2019

Lake County hosted the Recommended Alternative Public Meeting regarding transportation improvements to Round Lake Road on March 7, 2019 at the Mount Dora Community Building located at 520 N. Baker Street, Mount Dora, Florida 32757, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. This meeting presented the recommended Build Alternative and the No Build Alternative for Round Lake Road. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and to provide input to the study team; 168 individuals attended this meeting. Comments emailed or postmarked by March 18, 2019 will be included in the public meeting summary.

Alternative Concepts Public Workshop Held on October 25, 2018

Lake County hosted the Alternative Concepts Public Workshop regarding transportation improvements to Round Lake Road on October 25, 2018 at the Mount Dora Community Building located at 520 N. Baker Street, Mount Dora, Florida 32757, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. This workshop presented several alternatives (No Build and five Build concepts) for Round Lake Road. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and to provide input to the study team; 101 individuals attended this workshop. Comments emailed or postmarked by November 5, 2018 will be included in the public workshop summary.

Project Overview Public Meeting Held on March 8, 2018

Lake County hosted the Project Overview Public Meeting regarding transportation improvements to Round Lake Road on March 8, 2018 at the Mount Dora Community Building located at 520 N. Baker Street, Mount Dora, Florida 32757, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. This meeting introduced the project while providing the status of the study to date and the opportunity for attendees to ask questions and to provide input to the study team. Over 170 individuals attended this meeting.

Agency Coordination Meetings

The study team will work closely with the cities of Mount Dora and Eustis, Orange and Lake Counties, the Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), and the Florida Department of Transportation. It is anticipated that up to 10 coordination meetings will be held with these agencies.
